Beach Workouts and Water Activities

It’s springtime once again! How do you like to get fit on Maui?

Maui’s beaches provide the perfect setting for engaging in full-body workouts while enjoying the ocean breeze.

  1. Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP): Great for core strength, balance, and endurance, stand-up paddleboarding is both a fun and challenging way to stay fit. Try launching from Kapalua Bay or Makena Beach or any of the Kamaole Beaches in Kihei.
  2. Beach Yoga and Pilates: Join a beachside yoga or Pilates class at Wailea Beach, Ka’anapali Beach or Airport Beach. Practicing on sand adds an extra challenge for balance and stability.
  3. Ocean Swimming and Snorkeling: Head to Honolua Bay or Maluaka Beach for an incredible ocean swim. The resistance of the water makes for a great full-body workout, while snorkeling adds an element of exploration.

Maui is home to numerous scenic hiking trails that offer a great way to improve cardiovascular health and strengthen muscles while enjoying the island’s lush landscapes.

  1. Pipiwai Trail (Haleakalā National Park): A moderate four-mile round-trip trail leading through a stunning bamboo forest and past the famous Waimoku Falls. This trail provides an excellent lower-body workout and a serene atmosphere.
  2. Waihee Ridge Trail: A challenging five-mile hike that offers spectacular panoramic views of Maui’s north shore and lush valleys. The steep incline makes it a great cardiovascular workout.
  3. Twin Falls Trail: A relatively easy, family-friendly hike with multiple waterfall views. This is an excellent option for a light workout combined with refreshing dips in natural pool.
